Thankful Thursday

This Thursday I am oh, so thankful for…

The most fantastic wonderfully easy and comfy Baby Bjorn.

This was one of those purchases I didn’t make with either of the other girls but always wanted.  Amelia was blessed by some of my girlfriends who bought this as a gift for her.  (hint, hint mama-to-be: If you it’s something you know you’ll use again and again, it’s worth the investment) We’ve used it a lot, especially when it’s just me and the big girls and I want free hands.  But the Bjorn outdid itself this weekend.  Through the airport, up the sandstone cliffs, and down to the Grand Canyon, it proved itself worthy of the Baby Equipment Hall of Fame, or at least a place on the registry of every expectant mom I know.
I’m also thankful for the rain that reminded me even in the desert places,
God will supply our every need.
And finally, I’m grateful for my little sister.  She’s an incredible person whose life is turning out to be more than she ever imagined.  Thanks, Ashley, for letting us sleep in your incredible California king, for rocking Amelia back to sleep at 5 a.m., for making spaghetti, and for showing us the amazing place you get to go to work at everyday!  We love you!

Thankful Thursday

This week’s random (and late) list of things to be thankful for includes…
1)  Coffee.  At this point I really don’t care if it’s Starbucks or McDonald’s or Folger’s or whatever Karen makes in the teacher break room.  Somehow after I became a mom of two I developed an addiction.  It’s getting worse, I’m sure.  But I’m also sure it’s completely pyschological because the other day I drank decaf and it worked just as well.
2)  The Exersaucer.  I don’t know what brilliant person (probably a mom) came up with the concept of this contraption, but I am oh-so-thankful that the Tinsley boys’ exersaucer didn’t sell at the Children’s Sale so it could live in my den and entertain my baby at this too early hour of the morning when it’s too late to get her back to sleep and too early for me to be entertaining.
3)  Leftovers.  That’s right.  We had clean-out-the-fridge for dinner last night and it was the first meal we’ve had all week that the girls haven’t complained about.  Monday they didn’t eat their Happy Meals.  Tuesday was london broil and potatoes au gratin and ended with Annabelle getting a spanking because she chewed up her meat but refused to swallow.  WNS was taco salad and my girls are not fans.  They wouldn’t even eat the banana pudding.  But Thursday….we had turkey sausage and leftover potatoes and leftover corn and…it’s all gone now.

Thankful Thursday

This week’s thanks are items of utmost importance in my life right now:

1)  the spare key….now I’m not going to tell you where it’s hidden but let’s just say it’s awfully convenient on all those mornings I run out of my house locking the door behind me only to get in the car and realize the keys are in my purse in the house.  Not that I’m ever that scattered in the morning.  I mean, seriously, this only happens like once a week.

2)  teething tablets….these homeopathic little creations were a lifesaver when Annabelle was teething and have proved to be the same for Millie-Moo who is sporting quite a couple of chompers now.

But the week’s winner of what I am most thankful for–

3)  the NoseFridahttp://rcm.amazon.com/e/cm?t=random05a-20&o=1&p=8&l=bpl&asins=B00171WXII&fc1=000000&IS2=1&lt1=_blank&m=amazon&lc1=0000FF&bc1=000000&bg1=FFFFFF&f=ifrhave you never heard of it?  I hadn’t either until a friend shared the love.  Simply put, it’s a snot sucker.  Literally.  And when you have a squirmy baby with a nose full of snot it’s exactly what you need.  That’s probably enough information.  I’m sure some of you aren’t into hearing about my baby’s snot.  I can’t imagine why not.

30This Thursday I am oh, so thankful for…

Mockingjay (The Final Book of The Hunger Games)….good books.  Amazon was awesome enough to send my copy of Mockingjay right away, so I could delve back into Katniss’s tragic yet inspiring world.  Rarely do books live up to my expectations.  I always think, well, definitely saw that coming.  Or, really?  That’s the plan?  Should’ve stopped while you were ahead…but the Hunger Games trilogy has not disappointed.  Twists, turns, and terror I would never have seen coming all add up to the only ending there could be for those that survive.  Can’t recommend it enough.

….family.  Yes, they drive me crazy.  Yes, they are a little crazy.  Yes, I have A LOT of sisters.  Oh, and a brother.  But they’re mine and I love them.  I’m also thankful for the Brackett side of the fam, though I don’t mention them enough (it’s really not their fault that they are not as dramatic as those Paynes).  But they deserve my thanks on a day like today when we had a zillion things going on, so my in-laws picked up dinner and fed my kids so I could eat in semi-peace.

…baths.  There’s nothing more relaxing than a tub, some bubbles, and a good read.  Well, maybe a glass of wine and Joshua rubbing my feet.  Ahh….maybe I’ll make it to next Thursday now.

What are you thankful for?

Thankful Thursday

In continuation of the days-of-the-week theme (and copying Julia because I’m not above it) here comes a (hopefully I’ll do my best) new feature of this blog:

Thankful Thursday!
Because it is a good idea for someone like me who overwhelms far too easily to take a few moments to reflect on the little things that make life exceptionally wonderful.  You know, like Double-Stuf Oreos.
So this Thursday I am so very thankful for….
…Sick Days.  That’s right.  Especially sick days with my sweet baby who was sweet enough to be sick while at daycare and have moved into the low-grade fever, all I want is Mommy phase for the day I stayed home to ensure her full recovery.  It was a sweet day of cuddling and nursing and snuggling so she would feel better and I would feel reassured that it was okay to let someone else take care of her today.  But mostly I am thankful that I have a job that allowed me to take the day to take care of her.
…Good Friends.  Like Mary Lynn who took a pouty Madelynne to school on Wednesday and also picked her up that afternoon, just so I wouldn’t have to put Amelia in the car and drive the mile down the road to do it.  And Laura who knows how thoughtful it is to get sweet mail.  And April who brought us dinner the week I started school because she remembers how hectic that is.  And a lot more but I better stop before I leave someone out.
…Hand Me Downs.  Noelle was in the “good friend” category for this one, but I had more than a short sentence to say about the gratefulness of having four boxes of clothes for Amelia in storage.  That’s right.  Four boxes.  And they only go up to 24 months.  The best part?  When I return one box, I get to swap it for another of bigger sizes/different seasons.  It’s like shopping for free.  A friend at school gave me stuff for Millie-Moo also, and the best part of it all is that obviously we all share the same taste.  Outfits Belle and Madelynne wore that I got rid of during my brief “this is it” period are back.  Love. It.
So what are random things are you thankful for this Thursday?
