Project 52.10

Week 10 of Project 52.  But only like the fifth post for this project because if it was too predictable, it wouldn’t be random.  Right?

We had a busy week, but it was nothing compared to the week before when Joshua was gone every night teching Hairspray for the community theatre.  Now that’s behind us and he can concentrate on important stuff.

Like putting the kids to bed before 9 and eating Girl Scout cookies on the couch with me.

Here’s some visual aids of our week to help you imagine what our life is like in case you don’t actually know me or see us on a regular basis.  As for the rest of you who actually get to see me pretending to know what I’m doing parenting three girls, you can enjoy knowing the randomness is not just contained to the blog.

Why, yes, I can read my books with only one eye.
I’m attempting organization/sugar reduction for Madelynne’s snacks.  Seemed to work pretty well to have everything prepped so all she had to do was grab.  And seemed to be an improvement over Oreo Cakesters as an afternoon snack.

A special picture for our special friends who welcome their first baby, Leah Katherine, on March 10.
What do you mean I’m not allowed to play in the toilet?

And we’ve come full circle as Amelia reads to herself before bed.

Project 52.Something

Yeah, I did good for the first month.  But apparently after January was over, so was my discipline.

So here’s my attempt at reclaiming my weekly project of documenting the random days of our lives.

We’ve had a pretty down week.  It’s been busy with Joshua working late hours as the bank transitions to its new holding company and the girls and I are getting ready for the spring play at my school.

But this weekend, I was hit hard in the heart with a reminder that no matter how much I may hate the idea of my life changing because of his job, I am so blessed to be able to pack up my stuff…all that nonsense knick-knack brick-a-brack that makes our house our home.

Not that we’re packing just yet. But as I visited with our friends tonight who lost their entire home and both vehicles in a horrific fire yesterday morning, I’m definitely more grateful for my van with its chipping paint, my crooked kitchen cabinets, my sagging couch.  And I’m amazed by how quickly people will work to show others love and support when the physical structure of a life is gone.

Thank you, Lord, though, that it is never the physical structure that gives us our life, but rather the friends and family who are still standing no matter where you are.

Wow, long post for Project 52!  Here’s pics as promised!

Happy Birthday (again) to Amelia and Granddaddy.  We finally had her party this weekend.

That’s right, she’s eating more cake.

Where’s Amelia?

This girl loves her some birthday!

Amelia has seven aunts.  Aunt Calley and Aunt Alaina are the only ones who showed…we see how it is!

Playing with old friends.  I remember when these four used to all fit in the same bathtub!

Project 52.5

One month down for 2011.

We bid January’s frigid temps goodbye only to welcome a cold, February rain that lasted for most of the week.  Luckily by Saturday the sun had emerged again, but by then the Brackett house had become home to snotty noses and hacking coughs.

So while we fight off the latest in winter blahs, here’s a peek at what our week held.

A Shiny Sink
Joshua thought he’d clean out the receipts he hoards and Amelia thought she’d help.

On Friday evening, I braved the rain and Atlanta traffic to spend part of the weekend celebrating the upcoming arrival of Leah Katherine.  Oh, and it was great to see the parents-to-be, too!

And just when we thought it couldn’t get better…the window regulator quit working on the van.  So, I’ll be advertising for diapers.com until my friendly family mechanic can get it fixed.  Don’t be jealous.  I know you wish your passenger window was made of cardboard.

Project 52.3

Madelynne and Amelia stage a photo shoot in the hallway, although it looks more like Belle has been kicked out of the room they share, and is waiting for a ride somewhere else with all her belongings.

Because you should always dress up to play Wii.

Our good friend Jason took a break from his residency as a new doctor to come visit over the weekend and play lots of video games with the girls.  He’s chosen pediatrics as his specialty and he’s definitely a favorite with our girls.

Project 52.2

What a week for this early in the year! A winter storm buried us under seven inches of beautiful powdery snow and has now kept us out of school for six days. We had a great time sledding down the “holy moly big hill” as a FB friend dubbed it and then this weekend braved the roads (all main ones were fine) to head to Augusta for Hailey’s 5th birthday party ala Hannah Montana. On Sunday, we hung out at Marmie’s with the Beeson clan and that picture in front of the fireplace–looks just like all the times my siblings and cousins and I were lined up for the yearly photo. I’ll have to find one, figure out how to scan it, and post that. Up top are all the Payne siblings in the snow that’s still hanging out in E-town, and the handsome guy on the bottom is my nephew Colton who leaves with his mama this week to head back West. He’ll be so big next time we get to see him! Marmie corralled Amelia in the playpen even though I told her we prefer our babies free range, but Millie Moo didn’t seem to mind after all. We’ve had a great week 2 and hope you have too.
